Every year, Wilcox Group donates thousands of hours of our time to causes and organizations that matter to us. Whether we are heading media relations endeavours for national fundraising events or supporting local foundations, Wilcox Group is proud to offer our services to important causes that make a difference.
Wilcox Group provided media relations strategy for the North American premiere of the documentary, A Grandmother's Tribe. Wilcox Group worked with the production team to raise awareness of the film across the Lower Mainland and generate coverage in local media. A Grandmother's Tribe explores the role of African grandmothers as they seek to care for their orphaned grandchildren in light of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Wilcox Group's team led all media relations activities for the largest fundraising concert in Canadian history, raising an unprecedented $1.75 million for cancer research in 2002 and featuring groundbreaking performances by Bryan Adams, Jann Arden, the Barenaked Ladies, Chantal Kreviazuk and Sarah McLachlan. Two years later, Wilcox Group led public relations for an intimate evening featuring exclusive performances by Jann Arden and Sarah McLachlan in the BC Cancer Research Centre that was built with the money raised from the first concert. The 2004 event raised an additional $638,450 for cancer research.
Wilcox Group worked with the Canadian National Rugby team to help raise $75,000 during a fundraising event in support of these world-class athletes while they are taken away from their careers to train for and compete in the 2007 Rugby World Cup in Europe. Leading media relations activities, our team helped garner media coverage of the fundraising event and bring awareness and support to the Canadian National Rugby Team.
For several years, Wilcox Group has been donating their time and efforts to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which is the leading non-profit, non-governmental founder and advocate of diabetes research in Canada and the world. We provided media relations support for the JDRF's Ride for Juvenile Diabetes attracting media and corporate sponsors out to the successful event, which raised more than $160,000 in 2005.
Wilcox Group works with the S'Cool Life Fund, a dynamic charitable foundation formed in 2005 that enriches students' lives by raising and donating grants to non-tuition public elementary school programs and activities across Canada. Our team played an integral role in the foundation's development and has helped with the distribution of more than $758,000 in grants since its inception.
In January 2005, Wilcox Group provided media relations expertise to the Toronto Botanical Garden to create media and community awareness surrounding the organization's $7.2 million capital campaign and revitalization project. Wilcox Group managed media relations for the groundbreaking and public launch of the new facility.
Wilcox Group has provided media relations support to raise aware ness about the national recreaional trail that links Canada together from coast-to-coast. We have received media coverage for the trail in major publications including the National Post, Winnipeg Sun, Calgary Herald and Edmonton Journal.
