WG's Green Initiatives

Wilcox Group is committed to reducing our carbon footprint by taking measures to make environmentally intelligent and sustainable choices around our office.

To support this goal, we have implemented a number of changes to ensure that we make eco-friendly choices in the way we conduct business.

  • Wilcox Group substitutes our traditional office products with those that have recycled content and/or less environmental impact
  • Employees are encouraged to use public transit, car share, cycle or walk to work
  • We have an office-wide challenge to reduce our paper use by a minimum of 30 per cent over the next year through use of recycled paper and double-sided printing
  • We donate computers and electronics that are no longer required to non-profit groups or recycle them through www.era.ca
  • We participate in our building’s recycling program and encourage staff to bring in batteries from home to be properly recycled with office batteries
  • We developed the "Turn it Off" initiative to ensure that all electronic equipment is switched off after hours in order to save energy

Wilcox Group’s green efforts also extend outside of our office into the rest of our office building. Operated by Cadillac Fairview, our Vancouver office building has achieved the Building Owners and Managers Association’s Go Green status - indicating that that the property complies with key measures of good practice in the following areas:

  • Resource consumption
  • Waste reduction and recycling
  • Building materials
  • Interior environment
  • Tenant awareness

In addition, Cadillac Fairview has revamped lighting in and around our building by replacing incandescent bulbs with LED lights and introducing light controls which run the lighting during business hours only.

By undertaking these initiatives, we easily reduce our energy consumption and carbon footprint every day without costing a penny. It simply makes sense.
